Non-executive directors serve on the board of all types of organizations (private or public sector, joint public/ private enterprises, listed companies, regulated corporations, family-owned businesses, not-for-profit, non- governmental organizations, etc.) that are at different levels of business maturity and operational activity.
Participants will learn about the importance of establishing active boards at the right level of corporate maturity and appreciate the need for companies to properly apply corporate governance principles for sustainable progress.
The role of a non-executive director is a double-edged sword, for it bestows professional recognition while carrying vital responsibilities. Interviews with active non-executive board members will be followed by live discussions among participants about practical issues and shared experiences in boardrooms.
Assignment: Week 10 will include the introduction of an individual research assignment that must be submitted by Week 12. It is estimated that the assignment will require about 5 hours of preparation time, but this may vary according to individual work styles.
A 90-minute online achievement test will check each participant’s comprehension (Week 13), followed by a 1.5- hour interactive session to sum up the learnings from all four modules (Week 14).
